this document provides general guidance on adjusting the common workflows of users to improve the speed performance of profile for both themselves and other users on the same system this guide is intended to be used in conjunction with the system performance checklist https //intrahealth freshdesk com/a/solutions/articles/6000236858 document to help users manage profile performance at their practice 5 steps to a faster workflow adjusting default view filters the first and most important step for all users is to adjust the default view filters for the areas of profile that they need to visit during their regular workflow instead of choosing to load all of the data from patient record(s) at once, filters should be adjusted so that users first just view the data that is essential to their work for example, a user could set their default view filter for encounters to limit the number and type of past encounters that are displayed when they first open this view click edit to adjust your view filter in most profile windows to set a filter as the default once adjusted, right click on the filter and select set default default medical record open view users should set the area of the medical record that they use the most as the default view when the record is opened this allows the user to avoid loading an area of the record that they may not need at the time to set the default area of the medical record for a user go to organization / preferences / workspace press the medical record button at the bottom of the window change the show view on open option to the view of the medical record that you would like to set as default the summary view is often a better option for users than overview (see step 3 for details) customization of the medical record summary the summary view of the medical record can be easily customized for individual users which can make it a faster option than using the overview view users should customize their summary view of the medical record to display only the information needed for their role to edit the view click the edit button at the top right of the view filter in the clinical summary window the tabs at the bottom of the clinical summary filter provide options to hide areas of the summary that are not needed uncheck the options that are not required and click update and then apply to save the changes perform certain profile processes outside of busy clinic hours some processes in profile can take a bit of time to complete and can slow down the system for other users while running these can include find object queries (foq), groups queries, financial reports, and pdf patient exports small queries are not too impactful, but larger database queries from the processes above can be taxing on the system it is recommended that the tasks mentioned above are done during times when the clinic is not busy if possible to prevent slowness for other users perform initial prescription searches via brand searching for prescriptions in profile can be slow at times due to the amount of data in the formulary and the methods used to search for it intrahealth is working to improve the speed of the formulary in future updates to profile but currently the search by generics function is particularly slow in comparison to other methods to help address this known issue, users can set their default prescription search to be ‘by brands’ instead of ‘by generics’ if the result is not found from the brand search, the search menu can still be quickly changed to search for generics this is a filter defaulted to search by brands
