as part of the data export process, one of the key requirements is to ensure that the correct usual provider is set for each patient as this is the primary criteria that profile’s data export tools use for exporting patient data to help with identifying patients who will be exported, find objects is a query tool that is built into profile that can be used to help with identifying patients associated with a specific provider, as well as patients who are currently not assigned to any provider identifying patients assigned to a provider using find objects queries before creating a query in find objects, the codes of the provider to be exported will need to be identified to locate the provider codes in profile, select organisation\people & places to open the people & places window find the provider either by visually checking the list, or typing the name in the find box select “by description” for the search type and click the find button to search by name if visually checking for a provider, note that there may be more than one pos in the emr that you may need to check make a note of the code for the providers you have identified as these will be required later for the export repeat this process until all provider codes have been collected once the provider codes have been collected, a find objects query can be run for these providers to collect a list of patients and a patient count this will allow the provider and staff to ensure that the list of patients to export is complete and accurate the find objects query can be found in profile under report\find objects to create a query for patients, in the find objects window, click on the objects drop down list and select patient this will display the patient related objects we can query for the purposes of this query, we will only select details relevant to identifying patients for export from the patient object list, select the following objects by dragging the object to the top right window labelled select these will be fields that will be displayed in the output of the query filenum name last name name first name national num feel free to add any additional columns that may provide additional value to your list the second part of the query will be the conditions of the query generally, this will be the provider and patient types to add the conditions to the find objects query in the patient object list, locate the usual doctor folder and click once to expand the folder locate the code object and drag the object over to the bottom right window labelled where by default, it will populate the condition to is equal to type in the code that was identified in the previous step into the value field in the patient object list, locate type, and drag to the where field select patient from the value field to filter only patients click the play button to generate the report in profile this will generate a list of patients belonging to the specific provider code this can be exported to file if required by checking the direct to disk checkbox and pressing play again to generate either a report, or a csv file that can be imported into excel for additional processing repeat this process for all the provider codes that were identified to collect the patient list and patient count for each provider
