article overview the following article is intended for system administrators and clinical users it will explain the process of editing the patient information panel it will detail the following steps step 1 navigate to the object inspector, the control palette, and the working palette windows docid\ fw2m8panttkp auxzwacustep 2 alter fields in the object inspector, the control palette, and the working palette to edit the patient information panel docid\ fw2m8panttkp auxzwacu edit/alter the patient information panel the patient information panel efficiently displays the current patient’s demographic and provider information the panel can be customized to meet the specific needs of your organization it can be edited by completing the following steps step 1 navigate to the object inspector, the control palette, and the working palette windows from the main menu, go to maintain/templates/forms this will open the forms templates window in the forms templates window, left click to select the reference folder double click the small patient information panel in the content reference area this will open the reference\small patient information panel window select the open form editor button from the reference\small patient information panel window's toolbar this will open the object inspector , the control palette , and the working palette window name functionality object inspector used to modify graphic information on the form such as font, formatting, and graphic sizing it also has the linking tool, 'print variables' to populate clinical information into designated fields control palette contains the tools necessary to create the objects to be placed in the form common tools included for labels, and for text or print variables working palette consists of the form you are editing step 2 alter labels and controls by using the object inspector, the control palette, and the working palette windows as an example, let's modify the usual dr label to instead show it as the referring provider's name left click on the working palette , and place it under the existing patient information panel in profile adjust the working palette to reflect the actual size of the patient information panel by placing the mouse curser at the right hand border, holding the left mouse button down once you see the double sided arrow and moving the mouse to the right to increase the size click the label to be edited from the working palet te in this case, 'usual doctor' in the object inspector , left click in the caption field and enter the new label in this case, the caption will be 'referring provider' you will need to adjust the border of the new label by placing the mouse curser at the border, holding the left mouse button down once you see the double sided arrow, and move the mouse to the right to increase the size in the working palette , click the edit control to the right side of the 'referring provider' label and adjust the border to allow for longer names in the object inspector, left click in the populate value field and left click on the blue ellipsis box this will open the populate value property window for this field make sure the auto populate checkbox is checked to change the print variable information, click on the blue ellipsis box in the print variable field this will open the print variables window each object folder (for example 'patient') shows the associated items some items are within sub folders at the bottom of the print variables window, there is a toolbar see the table below to understand what each button on the toolbar does print variables window toolbar buttons function click to collapse the object folders click to expand the object folders a green nodes indicate if a print variable is currently used a grey nodes indicate if a print variable is not currently used click to show used items this list contains commonly used items (green nodes) see image below click to show/hide the find panel this panel allows entry of search terms select your desired print variable from the list some variables are inside a print variable folder, that can be expanded by clicking on the plus sign next to the print variable name click ok to enter the print variable into the field click ok in the populate value property window close the reference\small information panel window this opens a prompt window to save the changes click yes to save the changes made to the form log out of profile and log back in to update the change(s) the edit of the patient information panel is now complete
