article overview & feature requirements this article is intended for clinical users it will focus the ways users can use medchart in the new encounter view primarily around on how to complete a phone version 8 and above access to profile's licensed medication module completing a phone order via the new encounter view a phone order can be created by a nurse when a medical officer is not available to issue the medication order themselves in profile the overall process is the same as creating a new medication order, however it is important to select the correct method and add the name of the authorised orderer create a new encounter in the action panel click on medchart , the details of the patient's existing medication orders will be displayed in the bottom half of the screen (as per above) it's important to note that the view will default to display current medications to view discontinued or the patient's full medchart history, click on the down arrow next to current and select as appropriate click on the down arrow next to the new icon to select the type of new order you wish to make the mims formulary window appears, search for the medication you wish to order by typing in the search field and clicking the rx button (or press enter) the list of possible medications is displayed click on the to expand the tree and select the applicable order any medications ordered previously by the logged in user (for any patient) will be shown in bold text, the description will show the details of the description and be displayed as for any medication that you have not ordered following fields are mandatory frequency route duration enter the indication which relates to the medication being ordered select an item from the patient’s problem list from the drop down box or ok to save and close the order will be added to the list showing in the bottom half of the screen an activity link is created and displayed in the top right column of the encounter complete the content of your encounter and save and close it the new ordered medchart item is now saved in the encounter as a hyperlink completing a third party order via the new encounter view when a medical professional (such as a psychiatrist, cardiologist or oncologist etc) outside of your organisation has made the original medication order for your patient and it needs to be recorded in profile you
