overview profile has a cases overlay that supports the notion of “episodes of care” this enables organisations to segment a patient's medical record into discreet areas based on the types of care provided e g a sexual health case or a mental health case these cases can also be set with specific levels of privacy on who can view elements related to them the profile case management overlay enables an efficient process by which a collaborative process of care management can occur including intake, triage, assessments, planning, care delivery (at a specific location or in a remote setting), budgeting and reporting examples of workplaces where cases can be useful include organisations that manage and monitor clients around the form of episodes of care working with sensitive health information of clients needing to limit access to sections of a patient's medical record benefits for healthcare organisations efficient triage management clinical notes can be added to a patient's medical record without requiring a new encounter or accepted referral case loads and assignment information for different providers can be easily seen allows for extra privacy and security for patients with sensitive information provides options for compliance with government reporting requirements (e g minimum data sets) a way to measure organisational efficiency prerequisites to enable the viewing and editing of cases on profile the case management module must be installed under organisation/preferences/technical/licensed modules the role action to view case explorer must be enabled as role actions for the relevant users in organisation/roles if you require any help in setting up these preferences, please contact intrahealth support at 0508 300 900 or help\@intrahealth com mailto\ help\@intrahealth com feature summary once case management has been enabled, the feature can be found by clicking on cases under patient in the menu bar or typing ctrl + 8 and selecting the patient if required a single case consists of a variety of patient and provider transactions these can be found on the pane on the left hand side of the case view depending on the privacy role of the user, the administrative or clinical options may not be visible new transactions (such as new letters, encounters) can be added to the case and generally these are kept isolated inside the case and not viewed in the rest of the medical record managing cases a list of all cases can be found by going to work centre/work/cases from the view in work centre, users can view all cases, create new cases and edit existing cases the types of cases visible in work centre can be filtered in the view dropdown menu, and new filters can be created by clicking edit to open the edit filters page creating a new case a new case can be created in multiple ways going to patient/new case or typing ctrl + alt + c clicking the button on the cases view in work centre through inward referrals by clicking the button in the new inward referral window information can then be included in the new case page fill out any relevant information and click ok to save the case case privacy cases not only enable you to segment parts of the medical record, but also apply privacy settings to them this could be helpful for many types of situations, such as for a care team only allowed access to specific cases and nothing else in the medical record these can be set in the privacy field on the general view of the case page in the dropdown menu, you can choose from privacy roles to restrict viewing and editing access in three different areas case only users with the specified privacy role can see the case exists administrative only users with the specified privacy role can see information in the administrative section of the case clinical only users with the specified privacy role can see information in the clinical section of the case anything created within the administrative or clinical sections of the case will automatically inherit the privacy settings of case privacy case care teams access to cases can be further restricted with the use of care teams adding users to a care team can allow the case to only be viewed by members of that care team out of all users with the same privacy role the care team can be found in the case menu under administrative/care teams case care team members will be listed in the care team menu on the patient's medical record in italics closing a case when a case is completed, it can be closed by clicking the close case button on the cases menu a reason and outcome can be set
