# Procedure Codes

Procedure Codes provide clinics with a simple and clear way of classifying procedures. This can be helpful when reporting, or creating and searching for groups.

## Enabling Procedure Codes

To set up the ability to use Procedure Codes, go to **Organisation / Preferences / General /Clinical / **and the** General** tab.

Select the **Procedure search** tab, and make sure that the **CCI **box is ticked.

Select **Procedure Codes** from drop-down list, called, '**When choosing procedure codes, use:'.**

Click on **Apply** and then **OK** to complete the setup.

## Procedure Codes workflow

Go to **Medical Records / Problems**.

Click on the downward facing arrow next to the **New Problem** button.

Select **Procedures** from the drop down list that appears. Doing so will only affect procedures and not the other four sections.

The **Problem - Procedures** widow will open. 

Start entering the name of the procedure into the **Code** section. Click on the ellipses to search.

The **Select procedure code** window will appear. 

Click the **Search** button.

Select the correct procedure and click **OK**.

Click **OK** in the **Problem-Procedures** window. 

Notice that the unique procedure code appears in the **Code** column in the** Medical Record** window.
