# Overview

A Wait List is a feature of Profile that documents patients who are waiting to be booked or prioritised for an appointment. This is a fast and easy way to prioritise patient needs.

For practices that use Wait Lists to process workloads and manage customer appointments, Profile offers the feature of creating a Wait List within the software. This allows for a convenient way to have a wait list that can synchronise with Profile's existing medical records and appointment booking system without needing to use an external system, saving time for practices.

## Benefits for Healthcare Organisations

- Patients waiting for an available appointment can be organised within one place, sorted by wait time and priority
- Patients within the Wait List can be quickly selected for use of other features in Profile, saving time
- Available appointment times can be easily searched for using the Wait List without having to open a new window
- Patients can be booked by dragging and dropping their details from the Wait List to an open appointment slot within Profile

# Feature Overview

Wait List can be found by going to **Work Centre/Work/Wait List **

Clicking on the column headers will sort the entries in the Wait List by alphabetical order or newest date (if **Date **is selected).

## Creating new entries

A new patient can be added to the Wait List by pressing the

The **Wait List Type **field corresponds to a list of Short Codes. Additional Wait List Types can be added by going to **Maintain/Short Codes/Wait List Types **and creating a new Short Code.

## Searching for Appointments

Press the

Drag and drop patients from the Wait List to an appointment slot to book the patient in for that appointment slot.

## Prioritising Appointments

Appointments can be allocated a priority under the **Priority **field in the New Wait List Entry menu.

Wait List Priorities can be customised depending on the practices' needs. Priorities can be set up by navigating to **Maintain/Short Codes/Wait List Priority.**

## Wait List View Filters

Filters can be created within the Wait List to only show specific information or entries of a specific category. These filters can be created and edited by going to **Edit **button next to the **View **dropdown menu.
