# Article Overview & Requirements

The following article is intended for all users and will cover how to use AutoScribe in Profile.

## Feature Requirements

- Profile version 9.0.1 and above is required.
- Please reach out to your Customer Success Manager and/or Sales Representative for installation instructions.
- Installation must be completed as per the AutoScribe: Installation Instructions document.

**Note:  Autoscribe in&#xA0;**&#x50;rofile requires that the installation described in the AutoScribe: Installation Instructions document has occurred. If this has not happened the feature will not launch directly from the Profile toolbar. You can confirm with your system administrator or IT team that this process has taken place.

# Use Autoscribe in Profile

## Step 1: Launch AutoScribe

Once the installation is complete, you’re ready to launch the AutoScribe feature in Profile.

1. Open Profile and navigate to the patient’s chart where you wish to document.
2. Locate the toolbar at the top of the screen.
3. Click the **AI Voice&#xA0;**&#x62;utton to open the AI-powered scribe generator.

## Step 2: Login 

1. Enter your assigned **Username** and **Password&#xA0;**&#x64;etails in the spaces provided.
2. Click th&#x65;**&#xA0;Login** button.

**Note:&#xA0;**&#x49;f this is your first time signing in, the system will require you to change your password with the initial login for security purposes.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the password change processes.
&#x20; Once the password has been updated, you can access the Autoscribe tool for all future sessions using your new credentials.

## Step 3: Start Voice Dictation

It is now time to start dictating your notes. As you do this, AutoScribe will transcribe your speech into real-time text. 

To begin this process:

1. Click the **Start Listening** button. You'll notice this section of the page changes, and a **Pause Encounter** and **End Encounter** button now appear. You can click on the **Pause Encounter&#xA0;**&#x62;utton (found on the toolbar) to pause the voice dictation recording, if needed.

2. Speak clearly into your microphone, providing all necessary details for the note or document.

3. When finished, click on the **End Encounter&#xA0;**&#x62;utton, to end the voice dictation recording.

## Step 4: Select a Template

It is now time to choose how you wish the document to be formatted. 

1. Select the document type that suits you best from the list of available templates from the drop-down menu. Options include things like patient notes, referrals, and letters etc.

2. You will notice that the AutoScribe tool will now apply the formatting based on your selected template.
3. Review and finalise your notes. 

## Step 5:  Copy to Clipboard

Once you are happy with your notes, it's time to copy them to the clipboard.

1. Click the **Copy to Clipboard&#xA0;**&#x62;utton within the AutoScribe tool. This will store the entire note in your clipboard, making it ready for pasting.

## Step 6: Paste into Profile

Now it's time to transfer your note into the relevant location in Profile.

1. Return to the patient's chart in Profile.
2. Navigate to the appropriate section for documentation (Ex. Encounter Notes or Referral Letters).
3. Right click in the text field and select **Paste.&#xA0;**&#x20;Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+ V on Windows, or Cmd + V on Mac).
4. You will now see your content inserted into the patient's chart.

## Step 7: Save your Document

Now that the document is within Profile, make sure to save it to the chart.

1. Click the **Save** button in Profile. 
2. The process is now complete.
