Medicare Online claiming systems previously relied on client and server adaptors to allow health professionals, hospitals, and private health insurers (PHI) to transmit and receive claims and verification requests.

The Department has now switched over to Web Services technology and use PRODA for authentication. They no longer accept claims submitted using adaptors and PKI.

## Requirements

- Set up individual and organisation PRODA accounts (outside of Profile)
- Upgrade to Profile version 8.7 or higher
  - In order to use AIR (Australian Immunisation Register) a minimum version of 10.0.4 or higher is required
- In Profile, configure the Provider Digital Access eMessage

### PRODA Setup and Requirements

PRODA (Provider Digital Access) is an online identity verification and authentication system. It lets you securely access government online services.

Before configuring Profile for Medicare Web Services it is imperative that the appropriate registrations and setups have been completed with PRODA for your organisation and providers.

- For additional information about PRODA, click [here](https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/proda-provider-digital-access)
- To set up a PRODA account, and for detailed instructions and requirements click [here](https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/medicare-online-for-health-professionals)
- To register your organisation in PRODA and obtain your Organisation ID, click [here](https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/how-to-register-organisation-proda?context=33786):
- To use the Medicare claiming feature, you must add the Medicare Online/ECLIPSE/DVA/AIR Service Provider to your organisation in PRODA. Click [here](https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/adding-and-linking-to-medicare-online-proda?context=33786) to start the process
