# Letters

## New encounter section causing issues populating letter variables in templates

Profile 8.8 has a new encounter section for adding Encounter notes into letters. The previously available letter variables were impacted by this change resulting in the older letter variables no longer pulling in the information automatically.

This issue impacted Profile 8.8.3 only.

As a representative sample to reproduce the issue:

1. Within Maintain/Documents, edit a letter.
2. Include the variables «Letter.Encounter.ReviewText» and «Letter.Encounter.ReviewTextOnly» in that letter.
3. Within a patient Medical Record, create a new letter and select the template with the just added variables.
4. None of the Encounter information is pulled in from using the variables.

With the fix, the letter variables are now pulling information into templates automatically.
