# Overview & Requirements

This article is for providers wanting to know how to view the number of SMSs sent through Profile

## Requirements

- Profile v8.8.11 and above
- SMS has been enabled in Organisation/Preferences/Setup/Internet/Messages

# SMS usage

It may be the case that a user wants to see the number of SMS messages that have been sent from Profile.

When using an external SMS service provider (ie: Twilio or Clicksend), individual messages may be split into multiple SMSs depending on the character limit. It can be useful to know the overall number of messages to get a better understanding of how much you will be billed for by the provider.

## Viewing SMS usage

To view the status of all SMSs, go to **Control Centre/Manage/SMS Log**

The **Seg **column (short for Segment) in the SMS Log shows the number of SMS messages that were sent by the carrier to deliver the message seen in Profile. It may be 1, 2, or more.

**Note**: Segments will not be shown for any messages sent before the feature was enabled.

The Segment property can be queried in more detail for reporting purposes in **Report/Find Objects** under Patient/Message/Segments
