The following article will cover how users can easily update their passwords to fit the Password Restriction criteria after upgrading to Profile versions 9.0.6 and above.

# How to Update your Password

## Being Notified that a Change is Needed

If a users' current password does not fit the Password Restriction criteria in Profile, they will be prompted to make a mandatory change. This will occur when they log in, for the first time, after upgrading to Profile version 9.0.6.

A notification, as seen below will appear. 

1. Click **OK **to start the process.

## Starting the Password Update Process

1. The **Change Password** window will open.

2. Enter in your **Current Password ** in the space provided
3. Start typing in your **New Password **in the space provided.

**Note:** Your password must follow all of the criteria listed in the image below. The following non-alphanumeric characters can be used for the **At least one special character criteria:&#x20;**\`\~!@#$%^&\*()-\_=+\[]\{};:’”,.\<>/?
You will notice that as you type in your new password, each of the password criteria icons will change from an X (representing not met) to a tick (representing met). Once all of the criteria have been met, the OK button will be enabled.
&#x20;     Do not click on **OK&#xA0;**&#x75;ntil all steps in this process have been completed.

4. Enter in your new password again in the **Retype New Password&#xA0;**&#x73;pace.
5. Click **OK.**
6. The password update process should now be complete.
