# USE CASE

How to find out the total number of patients registered with a doctor in the clinic. **Note**: This article describes the 2 most used methods.

# SOLUTION

## METHOD 1 Find Patient

Use any of these following methods to open the **FindPatient** window:

1\. From the Main Menu select **Patient** -> **FindPatients** or

2\. Select **NewPatient** from the Toolbar or

3\. Press ‘**CtrlF**’

The **FindPatient** Window will appear.

- Enter the doctor’s code in the **Provider** field. ***Tip****: click the ellipsis to search for the code*
- Select **Registered** from the **Status** drop-down list and/or select **Yes** from the **Registered** drop-down list. A value of **Yes **will ignore "Test" patient records.
- Click the **Find** button

- The **Find Patient Results** Window will appear with count of matching patients found:

If needed you may select one of the following options:

1. **Add** - to add a patient that does not appear on the list
2. **Remove** - to remove a patient(s) from the list (highlight and click remove)
3. **Letter** - to print a letter for the selected patient(s) -> set the appropriate parameters, click OK, select the relevant letter, if required and select OK
4. **Again** - to display the original list of search results
5. **Alter** - to access the Patient window in edit ode for highlighted patients
6. **Display** - to access the Patient window in display mode for the highlighted patients
7. to **Save** the found list, go to **File** -> **Save** on the Main N=Menu -> type an appropriate Description for the list and click the **OK** button

## METHOD 2 Find Objects / Stored Queries

You can create a new query or a predefined query may already exist for your clinic. To check for a predefined Query select **Reports** from main menu and **Stored Queries** for a list of saved queries.

### Create a new Query

- Select **Report** from Main Menu then **Find Objects**

- In the Object field, select **Patient**. All the properties relating to patients will be displayed in a list of sub-folders in alphabetic order.
- Add the properties you wish to include in your query by selecting the required properties from the list. You can either double click on the property or drag and drop.

**Select the criteria:**

- Select the search criteria, in this case drag and drop the following properties -> **Patient-Usual Doctor-Code** and **Patient-Status** under the **Where** heading:

- Under the **Value Column** enter the **doctor code** and **status** = **Registered**
- Click the **Run** button

- Query results will display under the **Output** tab

- If you wish to save your query go back to the query tab and select the **Save** button

- Give your query a descriptive **Name** and click the **OK** button

- Select **Report** from Main Menu then **Stored Queries**

- **Select an existing query and click Execute to run the query **
- **or click Edit to change the query**

- **For example to change the provider, edit the query and insert the providers code (Username) into the field under column Value for the Usual Provider Code. **
- **Execute the query.**
