article overview this article is intended for system administrators and other technical users responsible for terminology management and data mapping it outlines the process for modifying an existing term cross reference set in profile updating these sets is an important part of terminology management that supports clean data integration and system consistency feature overview keeping term cross reference sets current ensures accurate integration of lab results and terminology across the system this helps maintain consistency in lab result interpretation improve data interoperability support better system wide reporting and clinical decision making step 1 access the term cross reference tool from the main menu, navigate to maintain / term cross references the term cross references window will display all previously cross referenced term sets step 2 open the term set you want to modify double click the term set you wish to modify the search for terms window will appear note for proper maintenance of the term set, make additions to the same main term in the cross reference set that you established when creating the set step 3 search for new terms in the search for field, type the term you want to add in the option field, select the appropriate option in the termset field, select the relevant term set if necessary click search to retrieve matching terms step 4 add new cross references go to the new cross references tab select the terms you want to add click the checkbox(es) next to the individual term(s) use select all to choose all terms, or deselect all to clear all selections click add to include the new cross references to the existing term set step 5 link to existing cross references open the existing cross references tab select the items to link by checking their boxes click ok to finalise the changes
