**Note:&#xA0;**&#x49;n the video above, you'll notice that the **Order Items** are automatically being added to the **Usual Scripts**. This is a preference that can be changed by going to **Organisation / Preferences / General / Scripts and Instructions&#xA0;**&#x61;nd deselecting th&#x65;**&#xA0;Always add to usual&#xA0;**&#x63;heckbox.

# Feature Overview

The **Scripts** view in a **New Encounter** is where providers can prescribe medications and manage prescription records. The interface is divided into two interactive windows:

- **Order Items&#xA0;**(top section): Where you manage today's prescriptions - this is the focus of this guide.
- **Usual Scripts&#xA0;**(bottom section): Linked to the patient's long-term clinical records, used for refills and ongoing medications.

# Scenario 1: Add a New Prescription

In the **Order Items** section, locate the medication search field.

Search the formulary by:

1. Typing the medication name (e.g., Tylenol) in the search bar and clicking enter on your keyboard.
2. Clicking on the ellipses.
3. OR clicking the **New** button in the **Order Items&#xA0;**&#x74;oolbar.

The **Formulary&#xA0;**&#x77;indow will open for each of these methods. If you chose option a. the name of the medication will already be visible.

If you chose option b. or c. enter the name of the medication you are looking for in the search field.

Double click the medication name. A prompt will appear for instructions.

Select **New Instruction&#xA0;**&#x74;o open a detailed entry window.

Fill in:

- **Dose:&#xA0;**&#x45;nter the dose amount, and make a selection from the drop-down list.
- **Freq:&#xA0;**&#x53;elect from th&#x65;**&#xA0;drop-down options or type Latin abbreviations (e.g., TID for three times daily)&#xA0;**
- **Dose Text: Add any relevant directions (e.g., "take with food").&#xA0;**
- **Qty:** Enter the total amount (e.g., 30 tablets).

(Optional) Tick **Remember** check box at the bottom of the window, to save the instruction for future use.

Click **OK** to finalise. The prescription will appear in today's prescription order.

# Scenario 2: Remembering Previous Instructions

If you previously saved instructions for a medication (by clicking the **Remember&#xA0;**&#x63;heckbox in step 7 from a previous order:

1. Search for the medication again (as demonstrated above in steps 1-4).
2. It will now appear bolded at the top of your results, indicating that it is a saved instructions.
3. Click the expansion arrow next to view medication view saved options. They will appear bolded in blue.

4. Select the relevant instruction set and click **OK**. The fields will auto-populate.
5. This eliminates the need to manually re-enter instructions.

# Scenario 3: Managing Ongoing or Existing Prescriptions

Use the **Usual Scripts&#xA0;**&#x73;ection to manage long-term or previous medications:

- To reorder a usual medication (e.g., a refill):
  1. Drag the script from the **Usual Scripts** window into the **Order Items&#xA0;**&#x73;ection.
- To move a new medication to long term use:
  1. Drag it from **Order Items&#xA0;**&#x69;nto the **Usual Scripts&#xA0;**&#x77;indow.

- To discontinue a medication:
  1. Right-click the item in the **Usual Scripts**.
  2. Select&#x20;**&#xA0;Discontinue**.
  3. Choose a reason and add a comment in the window that appears and confirm.
  4. The drug should be removed from the list
- To view prescription history:
  - Use the **Previous Scripts** tab for full history.
  - Use the **Discontinued&#xA0;**&#x74;ab for ended medications.

# Scenario 4: Printing Prescription Orders

Click the **Print All&#xA0;**&#x69;con to print all orders for the encounter.

(Optional) to split the prescriptions:

1. Select a prescription. 
2. Right-click and select **Separate Prescription Order**. This will separate each prescriptions into two different print jobs.

(Optional) to merge two prescriptions into one print job, simply click on a prescription and drag and drop it onto another prescription line item.
