# Article Overview 

This article explains how to set a patient's preferred pharmacy in the system so that it appears correctly on prescription printouts during new encounters. 



It is intended for Clinical users. 



# Step 1: Access the Alter Patient Window

1. Click **Alter Patient **from the toolbar OR click the **Patient ** tab and select **Alter Patient**.

#  Step 2: Select the Patient and Open the Care Team View

1. Select the patient from the list.
2. Click **OK** to load the patient's **Medical Record**

3. Go to **Care Team** from the left navigation of the patient's medical record
4. Click on **Care Team **from the left hand navigation.

# Step 3: Add the Preferred Pharmacy

1. In the Care Team view, locate the **Pharmacy-Preferred** from the list.
2. Under the **Provider **column, type the pharmacy name (e.g. Shoppers).
3. Select the correct option from the list.

**Note: **Click the ellipses button if you need to see more results. This will open the **Select External Provider **window where you can search for the pharmacy **Name**.

# Step 4: Set the Pharmacy Status

1. Make sure the **Status** of the preferred pharmacy is set to **Open**.

# Step 5: Save Your Changes

1. Click **OK **to close and save the **Alter Patient** window.



# Step 6: Confirm Pharmacy in New Encounter

1. In the **New Encounter / Scripts **view, check the **Supplier **field.
2. Ensure that the preferred pharmacy name appears correctly in the **Supplier** field for prescriptions to print as intended.

# Optional: Set Supplier Preferences While Prescribing

While prescribing in a New Encounter:

1. Select a pharmacy in the **Supplier** field.
2. Right-click the selected pharmacy.
3. Choose one of the following:
   - **Set Patient's preferred**
   - **Set Patient's alternate**
   - **Set provider's preferred**
