external places of service external pos are a new feature in profile 8 5 to formalize the relationship between providers (people) and clinics (places), similar to the existing model for internal providers and places of service this document provides an overview of the new functionality new toolbar buttons two new toolbar buttons wereadded to the organization/external providers toolbar to allow the creation of a new external pos to allow changing an existing external provider to an external pos and vice versa member of/members tabs a new view was added to the edit external provider window to allow viewing and modifying the external pos of which this external provider is a member a similar view can be seen in the edit external pos window to allow viewing and modifying the external providers who are members of this external pos external pos as external providers in profile, an external pos is just a special kind of external provider and can still be selected in any external provider lookup field, such as letter or referral recipient this allows users to continue selecting an external pos itself as the recipient of a letter or referral letter and referralexternal pos a new pos field has been added in the letter window to allow specifying the location to which the letter should be sent this field will only allow selecting an external pos of which the selected external provider is a member a new ext pos field has been added in the outward referral window to allow specifying the location to which the referral should be sent this field will only allow selecting an external pos of which the selected ext prov is a member a new ext pos field has also been added to the inward referral window to allow specifying from where an inward referral was received transaction properties a pos field has been added to the edit transaction properties window to identify the pos that sent the transaction the edit transaction properties window can be accessed in the results view of the medical record by right clicking on a transaction and selecting set properties alternatively, in the documents view of the medical record, right click on a transaction and select edit properties
