Creating a new stock item is the first step in the management of Inventory:

1. In the **Control Centre\Manage** select the Inventory view, then click on **New Stock Item **or
2. Right-click anywhere in the list and select New Stock Item on the toolbar

3. Create an unique code and add the description
4. The **Group** field provides an option to group stock into separate categories that can be used to filter inventory list (groups are defined under **Maintain/Short Codes/Supplier Group**)
5. To enter the supplier name, first create it under **Organization/External Providers** (must be of a **Supplier** type)
6. **Supplier Ref** and **SKU** (Stock Keeping Unit) are optional identifiers
7. The **Pack Of** field specifies the single unit (package) of the stock
8. Click on **Rx Info **button to link the stock item to the medication in the Formulary, if applicable
