clinical supervisor some providers, usually residents, require their encounters to be reviewed by a supervisor in profile 8 5 30, we have added new functionality to make this more configurable and controllable role configuration go to organization/roles from the main menu if one doesn’t already exist, click on the toolbar to create a new role named resident, or a suitable name for the types of providers who will require clinical supervision this role should have the following role actions revoked can prescribe can prescribe ad hoc sign clinical transactions sign encounters automatically this role should have the role action can prescribe with supervisor granted resident configuration go to organization/people & places from the main menu open the resident provider profile and select the grants view check the clinical supervision required checkbox and select whether they will be supervised by an individual provider , providers with a specified role , or providers in a specified group in the roles view, ensure they have the resident role, or the role you’ve configured previously supervisor configuration the following configuration should be done by each supervisor, with the exception of organizations who use role based preferences, where the configuration can be done once for applicable roles each supervisor should ensure that their default filter in work centre/unsigned transactions has the encounters checkbox checked in the categories panel of the general tab, so they are able to see encounters which are assigned to them for review go to organization/preferences/work notification , double click the unsigned transactions item to access its transactions list filters window and check the encounters checkbox there, as well encounter review and signing with the above configuration, encounters created by the resident will be recorded as being supervised by their supervisor and assigned to their supervisor for signing these encounters will appear as contacts in work centre/unsigned transactions , to be signed the review encounters tab can be used for a more familiar view of the encounter here, we can also see that the supervisor’s name is visible, as with the medical record/encounters view if necessary, the signing provider and date and time of the signature can be seen by opening the encounter in the patient’s medical record/results view and selecting the information tab prescriptions with clinical supervisor with the above configuration, prescriptions created by the resident will be recorded as being supervised by their supervisor this can be seen in the prior scripts tab in the medical record/prescriptions view by making the new prescriber column visible in the filter additionally, in new brunswick, the standard prescription form will include the supervisor’s name and college of physicians and surgeons of new brunswick (cpsnb) number supervisor selection providers who require clinical supervision and have a role or group selected with multiple available supervisors must select an appropriate supervisor themselves when they log in, a select clinical supervisor dialog box will appear with the list of providers in the role or group from which to select at any time, they can see their current supervisor, displayed in bold font, in the status bar at the bottom of the profile window right click the item to change the supervisor from the right click menu this can also be done from the main menu under file/clinical supervisor
