a 'term set' is a set of clinical codes, such as read or icd10 these codes are used when setting up forms, measure items and disease codes each measure item, disease code item or item in a form is linked with a particular clinical code in a term set, saved in the database you can cross reference between different term sets to establish continuity across imported data and data entered into profile cross referencing will also enable you to plot results from different laboratories onto one graph cross reference creation go to maintain/term cross references from the main menu the terms cross references window will display terms that have already been cross referenced click + to create a new reference terms set the term set window allows you to search the database for the parent concept filters can be used to further refine the search on the basis of codes enter the term in the search field use the field descriptions as a guide the term for which you search will be the main term of the new cross reference hot tip you may manually search for the term by searching through the folders displayed in the concept viewer click + to expand the lists further field descriptions field 1 defines the term set currently loaded the default term set is intrahealth click the dropdown arrow to select another term set from the list field 2 defines the search criteria the default is all items click the dropdown arrow to select a display option from the list count enables you to select commonly searched terms by the number of times for which the term has been searched enter a number, or click the dropdown arrow to select a number from the dropdown list search enter the desired term in this field, or browse for the required term in the top half of the window you need to enter a minimum of three letters of the term in order for the search to be activated option defines the search criteria for the term (i e , is exactly , starts with , contains ) click the dropdown arrow to select the required search option from the list select the concept code in the parent concept panel if necessary, click in the toolbar to display and find the specific concept within the tree press ok to begin the cross reference search for the term set matching terms from all term sets should appear in the new cross references tab left click in the checkbox(es) to check off the cross references you wish to add to the base concept press add to cross reference the selected terms to the existing term set press ok to save the changes the new cross references now appear in the existing term cross references the term set that has been cross referenced will now appear in the term set viewer all cross referenced terms can be found in the term set viewer attachments
